Brash Beer The Bollocks Imperial IPA

  • The Bollocks Imperial IPA from Brash Beer (brewed by Ipswich Brewing Co.) in Ipswich, Massachusetts pours out a deep golden-amber in color with good clarity and is topped with a two finger, off-white, dense head that slowly reduces down to a thin film with a good sized collar. On the nose, nice and hoppy with a good amount of malt sweetness. Aromas of pine, citrus, toffee, caramel, some biscuit and a little flower. In the mouth, quite malty at first, then the hop bitterness kicks in. Flavors of toffee, biscuit, pine, grass, light citrus peel and a hint of mango. Medium bodied. Low carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Moderate oil in the mouthfeel. The finish is quite long and ends up dry with a solid bitter note.

A really good Imperial IPA that shows restraint but doesn't short you on the hop bitterness. The 12% ABV is very well hidden. I'd definitely buy this again. Highly recommended.
