The Southern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop Ale 2013 from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Chico, California pours out amber in color with good clarity and is topped with a two finger, sticky, white head that reduces to film with a slightly larger collar. On the nose, aromas of grass, pine, bread and caramel. More malty than hoppy in the mouth at first with a good amount of bread, biscuit and caramel that is followed by a pine, tangerine, citrus pith and grassy, persistent bitterness. Medium bodied. Fine carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Pretty clean mouthfeel with just a little oiliness. Medium-long finish that is slanted bitter but not overly so.
A solid fresh hop beer. I love these southern hemisphere fresh hop brews so that we can enjoy a fresh hop brew twice a year. Well worth buying every year. Highly recommended.
