The Hop Savant 100% Brettanomyces Pale Ale from Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project in Denver, Colorado pours out a golden-orange in color with some cloud and is topped with a one finger, soapy, white head that reduces all the way down leaving a very thin film and a quarter inch collar. On the nose, aromas of pine resin, citrus rind, brett funk, earth, tropical fruit and a little flower. In the mouth, crisp and quite clean. Flavors of citrus rind, pine, a light sour note, a dose of earthy funk and the faintest hint of caramel sweetness. Light side of medium bodied. Fine, champagne like carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Clean mouthfeel. The finish is long and the hoppy flavors hang in almost to the end where all that is left is the lovely brett funk.
Another fantastic brew from Crooked Stave. Very refreshing with wonderful flavor and a nice funkiness. Highly recommended.
