Aviator Brewing HogWild IPA

  • The HogWild IPA from Aviator Brewing Company in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina pours out a lovely orange in color with some haze and is topped with a two finger, rocky, white head that slowly reduces down to a thin film with a large collar. Orange marmalade, tropical fruit, toffee and pine aromas on the nose. Good, persistent bitterness in the mouth but not overdone. Flavors of bitter citrus, honey, orange jam, tart grapefruit and a little earth. Medium bodied. Good carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Crisp, clean mouthfeel has just a hint of creaminess to it. Good length on the finish that is mostly bitter and somewhat dry.

A solid IPA with good flavor and pronounced bitterness yet, at the same time, coming across as very balanced. Very easy to drink. Recommended.

Thanks to Ken for sending this craft brew to me.
