FiftyFifty 2008 Eclipse Pappy Van Winkle Imperial Stout

  • The 2008 Eclipse Imperial Stout (original bottling, Pappy Van Winkle, no wax,  bottle #433) from FiftyFifty Brewing Company in Truckee, California pours out jet black and opaque with a thin, dark tan head. Big aromas of coffee, bourbon, oak, molasses and vanilla on the nose. In the mouth flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bourbon and faint tobacco coat the mouth in a creamy consistency. Full bodied. Low carbonation. Decent lacing. Creamy, full mouthfeel. All the flavors linger on an incredible finish with sweet, vanilla bourbon most prominent. An exceptional Oak Aged Imperial Stout that is one of the best I have had. I'd recommend this to all the stout drinkers out there but it is not cheap at $16.99/22 ounce bottle.

    22 ounce bomber, 9.50% ABV

Mark It really is. Super small brewery/restaurant up in the Truckee in the Sierra-Nevada Mountains. I wish they bottled their other beers.

ironarrow42 Gotta love a numbered & dated bottle. Never heard of this brewery before; sounds great!

Mark I need to head back up there this week and get some of their other beers. This is the only one they bottle but they sell the others in growlers. Their Rockslide IPA is supposed to be the bomb! Here is a link to their website more

Mark Looking back 4 years ago that $16.99 price tag doesn't seem too bad. This year they were pushing close to $30.
