Goose Island Pepe Nero Bottled 24 FEB 2011
Brewery – Goose Island
City/State - Chicago, Illinois STYLE – Saison / Farmhouse Ale ABV – 6% IBU - 30 DATE – 27 AUG 2011 SERVING TYPE – 12 oz Bottle GLASSWARE Pilsner A- / 4.2 look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 4
APPEARANCE – Dark purple but only when held up in the light otherwise it looks black. Head is small bubble foam that is thick and settles down to about ¼ inch. There is a stay flow of bubbles from the bottom of the glass. No real lacing
AROMA- roasted malts with a hint of a wine like smell, like grapes and a touch of spiciness
TASTE – it has a fruity bitterness, like a wine, but over powering. Leaves a good peppery bite in the back of the throat.
MOUTHFEEL – heavy carbonation that stay with you. Smooth otherwise, very light for a beer of this color.
CONCLUSION – I like this beer a lot, it may be because I can only get it when I get the hook up, but I feel I like it because it is something unique. If I could get this every day I most likely would not feel this way, but as of right now it is a special treat I look forward to.
