Nostradamus Belgian Brown Ale
Brasserie Caracole – Falmignoul, Belgium
9.5% ABV
This Belgian Brown Ale poured out hazy reddish brown with a nice tan head that dissipated quickly.
Scent was heavy on the alcohol, almost brandy-like, with pungent dark fruit such as prunes and figs. Some brown sugar and molasses notes to it as well.
Taste - again the alcohol was really present, with a toffee sweetness upfront followed by the sourness of fermented fruit. The malt was present as well.
Mouthfeel - was medium bodied with a fair amount of carbonation.
Drinkability – I found the alcohol a little much in this one. It had some similar characteristics to the Three Philosophers I tasted yesterday, which I liked a lot, but this one had way too much alcohol burn for me.
