9% ABV, Batch #2 (dated best before end 2009) Brasserie D’Achouffe, Belgium
Pours a hazy warm brassy golden hue, with some yeast sediment mixed in, and a lovely white head of foam composed mostly of larger bubbles. Fresh, floral aroma with tart citrus and a bready yeast note in the background. Hints of banana & clove. Surprisingly light-bodied for a beer of this strength, with a fine effervescence on the palate. Light, toasty-grainy malt base followed by orange blossom honey, tart citrus (orange & lemon peel), floral hop note, and a gently building bitterness. Leads into a lengthy finish with some citrus pith, more floral & fruity notes, and a lingering tanginess with some yeasty undertones and lemon notes. Complex, refreshing & delicious!
