10% ABV, Duvel-Moortgat, Puurs, Belgium
Pours a bright, pale orange-amber with a lush, off-white head of dense, slightly hilly foam. The aroma is enticing, with a meringue-like note including vanilla and lemon zest. Zippy texture with plenty of sparkle and effervescence makes for a lighter body. Flavour includes notes of citrus rind, yeast, alcohol, gooseberries, and a hint of cardamom. Bittering tends toward more of a citrus pith or grapeskin tannic character. Picks up some clovey-ness as it warms. Quite refreshing and very drinkable for 10% ABV!
Generous sheeting of foam clings to the glass. This went down smoothly and fairly quickly. You could really get yourself in trouble with this one if you’re not careful!
