Black, with a deep root beer hued highlight and warm beige head that drops to a thin layer rather quickly. Big grapefruit aroma with a subtle undertone of roast malt. On the palate, it’s grapefruity up front, developing a bitter and mildly roasty character. Fairly full bodied with a smooth, creamy texture and light effervescence. A tasty cocoa or dark chocolate note shows up in the finish.
Wow, this is quite good! The citric hops transition into the dark & roasted malt flavours amazingly well. It’s almost like two beers in one – IPA up front, rich porter to finish. Leaves nice lacing on the glass, too! It's understandably self-righteous!
