Clipper City Brewing, Baltimore, MD; double IPA, 10.5% ABV, 75 IBUs
The beer appears coppery-orange with a light chill haze and a thin head of pale beige foam that recedes to a collar and patches of bubbles. Nice hoppy aroma with citrus/floral/pine, sour orange zest and orange oil. Good mouthfeel with a creamy texture and fine, subdued carbonation. Plenty of hop character with orange oil and zest and floral tones & hints of pine resin. Sweetish malt underlies and supports the hops, with some caramel and toasty notes. Alcohol becomes discernible as it warms a little. Bitterness builds slowly and balances, leading into a lengthy finish of hops. Leaves a network of lacy foam on the glass. This is quite nice, indeed. Substantial, hoppy brew.
