Lagunitas, Petaluma, CA; 8.74% ABV, 72.51 IBU
Pours a bright orange-honey-amber, clear, with a good finger’s width of thick beige foam that falls to a solid cap. Aroma is citric hops with a definite tangerine note, floral & grassy components, and underlying hint of butterscotch. Hops jump out immediately on my initial sip – big, citrusy, floral, piney hops. There’s a fine, tingly & insistent carbonation and a medium-full body. The hops just keep coming, rolling over my palate like a freight train of flavour. Supporting malt is present underneath, providing some light caramel and butterscotch notes. The finish adds an oily hoppiness. Bitterness is firm, balancing, but not too aggressive. Hoppy finish lingers. Nice network of clinging, lacy foam patterns remain behind.
This lives up to the hype I’ve been reading in beer blogs. Real hophead nectar. Another great offering from Lagunitas. Go getcha some!
