People from countries around the world gather in their local watering holes to drink the sweet nectar of the Gods ever night. As a beer drinker, you may question the quality of beer in certain countries versus others. After all, competition amongst nationalities has been an inevitable part of history – why not include beer in the debate?
Interestingly enough, there is a survey that was put on by the Titanic Awards, which “celebrates the dubious achievements of travel.” The survey wanted to see which country produces the worst beer in the world. Over 2000 people from more than 80 countries have taken the survey so far, and the results may surprise you. Below are the top 6:
1.) United States - 23.0%
2.) China - 5.2%
3.) Britain - 4.1%
4.) Australia - 3.7%
5.) France - 3.4%
6.) Italy - 3.3%
You didn’t read that wrong – the United States beats its closes rival by ~18%. What beer is driving this enormous lead? BUDWEISER of course. The next three on the list (Egypt, India, and Greece) seems a little off in the grand scheme of drinking beer, but I’ll chalk that up to a statistical error.
Truth being that with all those craft brands popping up and the growth in the overall craft industry? Shouldn’t we be making some of the best beer in the world? I suppose the choice is up to you…
As for me I think the US makes some of the best and most definitely the most interesting beers in the world. Damn those Macro breweries in the US for putting out such swill !!!!!
JUST SAYIN........
