Here's the idea: We have themed tasting. In advance, if possible, we will pick a Style of Beer we're going to taste, then we trade tasting notes. The tasting period will be over two weeks so we get an outpouring of related tasting notes, which will spur deep discussions.... Check the Discussion area for what the tasting will be.

Have tasted all the pumpkin and O'fest beers that have hit our shelves, but am in Hawaii right now and can't seem to tear myself away from the IPAs again. Will report more on fall beers when I return. And as a side note, Primo is back (as you may know) and for research sake, I had to try one... promptly washed it down with a Widmer IPA :)

wheat IPA count for this month? (unfortunately) got a blue moon wheat ipa in a mystery box of beer last week, so I need to at least try it

Do you want this to be any Belgian Ale? Tripel, dubbel, quadrupel, strong ale, etc. or do you want to limit styles? I think we need to include Belgian Style ales to include brews made locally as well. Thought?

The S'muttonator is my favorite... have a few aging in the cupboard, but I'll attempt to broaden my horizons and find a new one to taste for next week (twist my arm!)
Mark: Who's in for Porter next month? The tasting will be Feb. 6-12. Also, just an idea, but maybe we should have a special tasting Feb 29th for the leap year. Maybe a rare beer tasting or favorite beer tasting? Other ideas welcomed.

Belgo Anise Imperial Russian Stout brewed by Stone Brewing Company for
Christmas (my family loves me…). Here’s
what I found:
Appearance: Jet black with a tan head, some light lacing
Smell: Heavy instant overtones of licorice, followed hints of burnt malts,
chocolate, coffee, and other sweet aromas.
Taste: The anise is immediate and obvious, but not overpowering. - kind of
tastes like black jellybean , but then blends quickly with flavors of,
chocolate, coffee, burnt and roasted malts.
Mouthfeel: Heavy, smooth, nicely carbonated
I thoroughly enjoyed this beer. This is not an all night beverage, but it is
an excellent, festive after dinner stout. less

I moved this to the discussion thread for the tasting too.

Congrats South Carolina! The State House just approved the so called "Pint Bill" that will allow breweries to sell 48 ounces of beer to a person every 24 hours. No more tiny samples if you're wanting a pint - as long as the Governor signs the bill.
