Beer Tasting Nov. 21-Nov. 30th

Deschutes Brewery - Bend, OR
JubelAle - 6.7% ABV
I see we have a few fans of this beer from Deschutes Brewery. This is my first time trying it and it is very good. Chocolaty amber in color with a creamy, toffee colored head that dissipates in about a minute or two. A powerful nose on this brew. I could smell it as it sat in front of me. Sweet, almost molasses aroma, maybe some caramel in there too, banana, malt and hops. In the mouth you can taste the sweetness and some nutty flavors that is followed by an offsetting hoppy bitterness. Not as spicy as some holiday brews. Goes down smooth, easy drinker, recommended.

Samuel Smith Old brewery - Tadcaster, England
Winter Welcome Ale - 6.0% ABV
Poured out a lighter amber color (coppery), very clear with a cream colored, rich head that hung on for a good while. Hops, toffee cookies and almost raisins on the nose with some earthiness. A nutty, toffee taste with muted spice in the mouth and a lingering bitterness towards the end. Moderate carbonation. Easy drinker and not bad QPR at $4.00/550ml.
