  Are their STOUTS out there that you'd love to share this holiday season? Let us know about them. Any domestic or import stout will do. I know that there's more out there than Guinness! Although, Guinness is good....

  I'll probably be beat to it but I'm going to have to go grab myself some Sammy Smith Oatmeal Stout. That is in my opinion the best stout out there.

  While as an Irishman I cannot speak ill of Guinness, there are some great American stouts out there. A few of my favorites...
  
  Sprecher's Russian Imperial Stout
  
  Bell's Expedition Stout
  
  Central Waters' Satin Solstice Imperial Stout and
  Brewhouse Coffee Stout
  
  Rogue Chocolate Stout
  
  Okay, so none of them are classic stouts, but they are all pretty damn good.

  I just shared a Rogue Shakespeare Stout with my dad over the Thanksgiving holiday. For my money, it doesn't get much better then that.

  Ilovebeer and I tasted a good stout tonight:
  
  Sheaf Stout - Carlton & United Beverages, Ltd. - South Hobart, Tasmania, Australia
  
  Poured great. Dark brown, almost black, nice mocha head, laced nicely on the glass.
  
  Aromas: Chocolate, coffee, toffee, charcoal (or burnt coffee is how we described it)
  
  Tastes how it smells...dark chocolate, coffee, faint taste of caramel, slight burnt taste. Very mellow aftertaste, kind of melts off the tongue.
  
  Very drinkable beer. Not thick, fairly mild and refreshing taste for a stout. Not what I would consider hearty. Went well with our burgers and chips.

  Old Rasputin Stout isn't too bad. My wife really loves that one.
  
  And for a lighter stout that's easily accessable I usually grab a Sam Adams Honey Porter.....

  St. Peter's Brewery - Suffolk. UK
  Cream Stout - 6.5% ABV
  
  Pours out dark chocolate in color with a creamy coffee colored head a good inch think that shrank by half after a few minutes. Molasses, coffee and chocolate nose. The taste is really good with malt, chocolate, coffee and some sweet molasses followed by a hop bitterness. This does not feel heavy in the mouth at all. Perhaps even too light for the style. Low carbonation. Very easy to drink, even at 6.50% ABV, and enjoy.

  Left Hand Brewing Company is certainly worth a mention. Their milk stout is a great, drinkable, every-day kind of stout. Their Imperial stout is truly outstanding. It has a beautiful, almost effervescent finish that contrasts well with the rich mouth feel of the drink.

  Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout
  Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout (they have an oak-aged version too)
  Young's Double Chocolate Stout
  Fort Collins Brewing Chocolate Stout
  
  And although you probably won't get your hands on it unless you live in my home state of CT, just last night I went to Bru Room in New Haven for some "Damn Good Stout"...and it lives up to its name.
  
  I'll also second the Rasputin and the Sam Smith; I'm brewing a clone of Sam Smith's Taddy Porter right now.

  Got the Oatmeal Chocolate Stout from Vermont's Trout River Brewery. Terrific pour. Black coffee brown and with a creamy head that lingers. Hint of chocolate on the aroma, bitter - almost coffee-like middle and then a smooth finish/aftertaste with more hints of chocolate. A good beer to have some cheese with. Very drinkable... not too thick.
  
  Not one of my favorites as the bitterness persists with the more you drink, but certainly a decent representative of the family and nice after a long day of work on a cold winter night.
  
  I'd say ***1/2 out of Five.
