Doppelbock Beer Tasting Dec 16-31

  Munich, Germany
  7.9% ABV
  Claims to be THE original dopplebock.
  
  The head is nonexistent and fades quick. Beautiful ruby color. Malty smell, which makes sense considering how deliciously malty it tastes. Ranks high in my book, as I love malty ale.

  Full Sail Brewing Co. - Hood River, OR
  21st Anniversary Doppelbock
  8.0% ABV
  
  Pours out a nice reddish amber color. Head dissipates quickly.
  
  Nice malty, dried fruit and nutty aroma. Taste malt, caramel, brown sugar and nuttiness with very little carbonation. Fades quickly on the backside, with an increased alcohol aftertaste as it gets warmer.
  
  A nice American representation of a doppelbock. Would give a 3.5 out of 5

  Salvator pours with a medium butterscotch colored head which dissipates quickly.
  
  The clear body is deep amber. Its aroma is full of sweet toffee. The flavor is full of round flavors of malt, toffee, bread, and hints of coffee. It is simi-complex and has a full mouthfeel.
  
  There is a hint of graininess in the finish with lingering toffee sweetness. I do have to say that I have drank this beer far to many times in Munchen while there on business not to say I prefer this beer on tap and should be drank at cellar temp.

  Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock - Privatbrauerei Franz Inselkammer KG / Brauerei Aying Germany
  6.70% ABV
  
  Pours dark brown with a small tan head with a nice amount of lacing. Good Smell; hints of chocolate and hazelnut. You can taste the chocolate flavors right away and it has a nice malt base. Creamy with a decent carbonation level. The finish is nice kind of smokey and a nice dryness to it.
  
  I love this beer I could drink it all night and all day. I normally drink Belgium beers, but this was a refreshing change from the norm. This one is tops for me as far Doppelboch's go.

  Greetings fellow VBTC members !! I decided to revisit an old favorite of mine for the doppelbock tasting: Celebrator. This is an authentic German brew with an ABV of 6.7%. It's on the dark side, has a nice chocolate maltiness and finishes very smooth. To taste complexity, I typically take one out of the fridge, uncap it, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before I pour it. Really tasty stuff.... I'd give it a 8 out of 10
  
  
  I agree, one of my favorite. Great taste, and I can actually find it in most stores up where I live.
  
  There is a polish doppelbock I had once that was superb, unfortunately I lost teh paper I wrote it down on! D'oh!
