  McMenamins Brewery - Portland OR
  Workingman's Red Spring Seasonal Ale
  4.77% ABV
  
  Went to our local McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse and Imbrie Hall. A place to be experienced itself, having to pass by the Scotch and Cigar Hut to get to the restaurant. Thought we would try one of their seasonal offerings.
  
  This red ale, definitely is reddish amber in hue, very clear, with a thin creamy head.
  
  Nose of yeast, malt, and hops. Not a real distinctive smell.
  
  Taste is fairly disappointing. Very thin and watery. Not at all substantial. Can taste the malt and some hop bitterness, but nothing outstanding.
  
  Probably would not order again, it seemed like I was drinking water, instead of beer, but the DIPA they offered was only served in a 10 oz. glass....it's the law, they said. Whatever!

  Certified Oraganic Amber Ale, 4.75% ABV
  Eel River Brewing Company, Fortuna, California
  
  The Certified Organic Amber Ale from Eel River Brewing Company in Fortuna, California pours out a deep amber in color with some cloud (unfiltered) and a one finger, light tan head. On the nose subdued aromas of malt, some yeast and moderate sweetness. In the mouth you get a little sweetness at first that diminishes as tartness and spice come into the picture. Light side of medium bodied. Nice carbonation. Some lacing. Quite clean on the mouthfeel. The spice is kicked up another notch on the finish along with a slight hop bite. A nice beer that is drinkable but nothing stands out to make you want more

  Avery Brewing Company, Boulder, Colorado
  
  The Redpoint Ale from Avery Brewing Company in Boulder, Colorado pours out a rich amber in color with perfect clarity and a one finger, light tan head. On the nose aromas of malt, piney hops, fresh bread and spice. In the mouth flavors of malt, iced tea, pine and earth with just a touch of sweetness. Quite low carbonation. Thin sheets of lacing. Medium bodied. Slight oil in the mouthfeel. The finish is pretty dry with some hops and black tea flavors accented by a little sweetness. A nice red ale with good flavor

  Abita Amber, 4.50% ABV
  Abita Brewing Company, Abita Springs, Louisiana
  
  The Abita Amber from Abita Brewing Company in Abita Springs, Louisiana pours out a coppery amber in color with very nice clarity and a tall, off-white head. Aromas of nutty, caramel sweetness, fresh bread and toasted malt on the nose. Quite clean in the mouth with flavors of biscuit, spice, delicate sweetness and malt. Light side of medium bodied. Decent lacing. Fairly low carbonation. Just a hint of cream in the mouthfeel. Good malt on the finish with a hint of hops. A very understated yet well balanced beer. Some may find this too mellow for them but I think it comes across just right. This would make a good session beer.

  Censored Rich Copper Ale, 5.90% ABV
  Lagunitas Brewing Company, Petaluma, Califorinia
  
  The Censored Ale from Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma, Califorinia pours out a deep copper in color with nice clarity and a thin, light tan head. Tons of caramel sweetness on the nose with some resiny hops and a little earth. In the mouth you taste the caramel first and this is profoundly sweet with just enough hoppiness to bring it back into line. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Some lacing. Syrupy mouthfeel. Quite dry on the finish with a nice hop bite at the end. I think quite a few will find this too sweet but I liked it.

  Tröegs Nugget Nectar
  Imperial Amber out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
  7.5% ABV
  
  Received this brew in a trade with deepsouth. Poured into a stein.
  
  Quarter inch white head that dissipates instantaneously. Transparent amber color. Almost no lacing.
  
  Smells more like an IPA than an Amber to me. Regardless, it smells quality. Some citrus tones, hoppy, some malts to back it up. Quality ingredients.
  
  Hoppy up front. Well balanced brew. Again the quality reigns through.
  
  Medium body. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Very easy to drink.
  
  Highly recommended. I guess I haven't had an Amber this good possibly ever!
