Amazing Deal and Question...

  The most unbelievable deal ever: I do garage sales on Saturdays and generally enjoy getting good deals, however this has been one of my best. For $75 I procured... An entire double fermentation brewing system (with glass carboys), 4 books on brewing (including our Brewer's Bible, The Joy of Brewing), loads of grains, malt, hops, rice hulls, etc (all double bagged, sealed and straight from the freezer), A keg sized wort boiler with spout/valve (this particular brewer would boil his wort on the grill!) and assorted other goodies, (hydrometer, thermometer, bottle caps, bottle capper, etc). I am Wicked Happy! Happy brewing to me! Just wanted to share this with everyone... I do feel bad for the guy, though. The reason he sold his brewing set up is because he couldn't drink beer anymore.
  
  One question. He has an old westinghouse upright freezer that he modified so that he could control the temperature... and he put a valve/spout hook up on it as well, apparently... that fits the keg wort boiler perfectly. He'll sell it for $40. Should I buy that from him as well?

  Wow what a great yard sale find. That Freezer sound cool If it works an you have room for it I say get it.

  WOW!! a value and a deal. I agree with norm if it works, do it. I'm not sure why he would put his boiler in it (maybe a a wort chiller?) but it will work great for lagering/dispensing. If it holds a half barrel then it should hold carboys perfectly.

  A temptrolled freezer for $40? Is this anywhere near Chicago/NW Indiana? I would KILL for that deal! That's perfect for lagering and making lager beers! Not to mention if you get a few corny kegs, you could tap one.

  Not close to Chi-town, unfortunately. Kansas. However, I have a small freezer that a carboy will fit in, so I'm going to retrofit it with a temp controller and use it for lagers.
