Fat Tire Amber Ale, 5.20% ABV
New Belgium Brewing Company, Fort Collins, Colorado

The Fat Tire Amber Ale from New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado pours out a golden amber in color with nice clarity and a one finger, tightly knit head that dissipates quickly. On the nose aromas of biscuit, grain and faint nut. This is very malty in the mouth with strong biscuit and bready flavors. No noticeable hop flavor. Some lacing. Light side of medium bodied. Well carbonated. Clean mouthfeel. Dense malt flavors on a moderate length finish. A long time favorite of many of my friends that will please all the malt beer aficionados.

Fat Tire is an above average beer with a strong following of those that think it is a great craft beer but are more easily persuaded by its marketing campaigns than its taste. Oh well, I'd rather see people drinking and raving about this than Bud Light.

It was a good brew but I am not so into such malty beers. I too am glad people are drinking it over mass produced junk. Lets hope they use it as a stepping stone into exploring the wonders of craft beer.

fat tire a good beer reminds my of drinking the milk at the end of a bowl of fruit loops. there marketing is even better there was a raffle in the liquor department were i work that i tried to rig by stuffing the ballet with my name and getting the clerk to pull my name, bad news was for me is employees cant enter too bad sweet bike.

I drank an Insanely Bad Elf last night. Below is a snippet from my review.

"My expectations for foam may have been shattered, but my expectations for taste were not! It's sweet from start to finish. Brown sugar, raisins, and some spice. The alcohol comes though in the smell and all throughout the flavor. Going to sleep well tonight! In general, it reminds me of the Dogfish Head Raison D'Etre, which I gave a raving review for. The elf is no where as smooth as the Raison though."

Believer Double Red Ale
Eugene, Or

Bottle 22 oz
ABV 6.9

A: Pours out a reddish/chestnut one finger of tan head. some floaties in the bottom of the bottle. Good head retention (4-5 minutes) & great lacing

S: Cakey, but not much else

T: Toasty malt, herbal & leafy hops & a hint of roasted malt up front. As it sets and warms up the flavors oscillates from cocoa to charred grain & back with lots of leafy hops and there is a touch of fruit on the tongue (figs & pears), plus some brown sugar. Finish is dry with some caramel & that leafy hops that hang right in there.

MF: Light/medium bodied with light persistent carbonation; fairly decent balance

D: I was expecting a little more malt in the guts to really pull me in. I would lean this one toward a nice winter ale from an awesome local brewery

Overall I would say a B+ as far as a Red Ale goes, and I would search this out and drink it again.

I have tried the Tricerahops from that brewery and really enjoyed it. Your review sounds inviting. As does the packing on that beer...for some reason I am really attracted to it.

Boont Amber Ale, 5.80% ABV
Anderson Valley Brewing Company, Boonville, California

The Boont Amber Ale from Anderson Valley Brewing Company in Boonville, California pours out a deep, rich, reddish amber with good clarity and a two finger, off-white head that hangs around for a few minutes. On the nose aromas of black tea, malty grain and a subtle sweetness. In the mouth flavors of sweet malt balanced by pine and flowery hops that show more towards the end. Some iced tea like flavors too with a touch of spice. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Nice lacing. Very clean mouthfeel. Quite a long finish with the hops asserting themselves then slowly fading away. A great Amber Ale that everyone should have in the fridge.
