Wetsmalle Tripel
Trappist ale, 9.5% ABV
Tasted in June, I'm just delinquent on posting my review.
Poured into a stemmed Westmalle glass, the beer is a bright, hazy golden-yellow hue capped with a very thick, dense and slightly rocky white head.
Aroma is tart and fruity, with a grainy note and hint of yeast.
Very fine, champagne-like carbonation tickles the tongue. Body is medium, and the thick foam lends a creaminess to the texture.
Tangy, zippy flavors - fruity, funky yeast notes, spices, earthy, lemony with a hint of tangerine and lemon peel and a pithy bitterness. Bready malt in the background during the lengthy finish. Leaves behind heavy foam patches on the glass.
Distinctive version, full of flavor and refreshing. I'd like another, please!
