Fighting Spam

One of the problems with any social network is spam and in an effort to fight this I am thinking that to send someone a message you should be friends first. This stops any spammer from sending out messages as they would have no friends. I'd love your input as this is your community.

    jezmez68 I don't like Spam, but I think if I can send a message to someone first, then later on decide if I want to add them to friends, that would be great. I'm here to meet other people that like beer, not sign up friends I already have.

    Mark @jezmez68 - you'd still be able to leave comments for people. Just the message system would require you to be friends before sending a private message.

    Mark only 8 votes but after another spammer joined we are now friend to friend messaging.

    HopHead What security does facebook have in place? I have not been spammed there, and have no problems receiving private messages or email from people that I'm not friends with. Usually it's someone who thinks they know me, and wants to be sure.
