CraftBeerLove619

fellow craft enthusiasts, I need your opinions.  my wife will be taking a trip to Rhode Island in a few months, and I need some good breweries to look for while she is out there, so she might bring home a few good bottles for me.  discuss amongst yourselves...

Usually it's mix-packs as I rarely drink the same beer twice in a row. However, Nugget Nectar is always by the case as it's a short season, Smutty big beers are always 22oz (for cellaring), and a couple of favorite locals are only growlers. Hiking and kayaking are always cans, but even those are usually mixed.

Mark Here there are a few places where you can buy singles or make your own 6-pack for $8.99. They have about 75-100 choices on the single shelf. Total Wine used to let you buy a single of anything. You could just pull whatever you wanted out of a 6-pack. BrewWitch The shop where I work allows anyone to just grab a single of anything on the shelves, no markup, just 6-pack price divided by 6. Where I usually shop offers singles of everything they carry with a slight markup, but a discount if you mix a full six pack (and free brewery pint glasses for every 6 mixpacks with the frequent buyer card). Other places around here only offer a limited selection of singles.

CraftBeerLove619 I have been pushing my store to do mix 6-packs, but they are reluctant for some reason.

bryanlovesbeer I have a keg-o-rator in my garage that I keep loaded with the really good craft beers (5 gallon sixtel). Otherwise, I purchase any of the above if I want to try something new/different.

  • Mark Congrats South Carolina! The State House just approved the so called "Pint Bill" that will allow breweries to sell 48 ounces of beer to a person every 24 hours. No more tiny samples if you're wanting a pint - as long as the Governor signs the bill.

  • Paul just had one of my rye pale ales, didn't turn out too badly.  I won't be able to brew for a living, but at least it will keep me busy.  Has anyone here tried growing hops and had any success?

How do you buy your beer?
  • Labeling
    Posted November 18, 2011
Haven't tried that beer, but the label immediately draws your attention? Thought of trying a new style but the artwork on the label turns you off? As visual people, I am curious how the labeling/branding plays into your decision to buy beer.
