I decided to revisit an old favorite of mine for the doppelbock tasting: Celebrator. This is an authentic German brew with an ABV of 6.7%. It's on the dark side, has a nice chocolate maltiness and finishes very smooth. To really taste complexity, I typically take a bottle from the fridge, uncap it, and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes before I pour it. Really tasty stuff... I'd say 8 out of 10.
Gdlajames → Virtual Craft Beer Tasting Club: I'm pleased to be a member of this group, and apparently, my timing is pretty good... I LOVE Doppelbocks. I really don't need an excuse to knock down a few, but now I can tell the wife that it's necessary research !!

GdlajamesShould be fun... these are typically sweet, malty brews with a higher than average A.B.V. Not something that a hop lover would necessarily be a fan of, but really satisfying, particularly in the long, cold winter months.

I am a 43 year old who grew tired of domestic brews and began discovering the joys of imported dopplebocks, belgian ales, barleywine style ales, etc. I have been hooked ever since. Also, having grown up in the Chicago area, I am a HUGE Bears fan !!

This group is designed to share notes about beer, as well as tasting notes and suggestions and get to know beer lovers from all over the globe. Here's the idea: We have themed tasting. In advance, if possible, we will pick a Style of Beer we're going to taste, then we trade tasting notes. The tasting period will be over two weeks so we get an outpouring of related tasting notes, which will spur deep discussions.... Check the Discussion area for what the tasting will be.
A weekly Internet broadcast that discusses no-life scenarios. We are totally against mass produced beers, so one of many goals and objectives is to introduce a new microbrewery to our loyal listeners. Therefore, any and all recommendations will be taken seriously.
