I decided to revisit an old favorite of mine for the doppelbock tasting: Celebrator. This is an authentic German brew with an ABV of 6.7%. It's on the dark side, has a nice chocolate maltiness and finishes very smooth. To really taste complexity, I typically take a bottle from the fridge, uncap it, and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes before I pour it. Really tasty stuff... I'd say 8 out of 10.
Gdlajames → Virtual Craft Beer Tasting Club: I'm pleased to be a member of this group, and apparently, my timing is pretty good... I LOVE Doppelbocks. I really don't need an excuse to knock down a few, but now I can tell the wife that it's necessary research !!

Gdlajames → The Truly Vile File: When I was younger and living in Tennessee, I came across "Magnum" Malt Liquor. I will never forget how I felt the next day. Ever.

GdlajamesShould be fun... these are typically sweet, malty brews with a higher than average A.B.V. Not something that a hop lover would necessarily be a fan of, but really satisfying, particularly in the long, cold winter months.
