Lo and behold; our operating brewery count hit 2,051 as of April 30, 2012. The current count of craft brewers stands exactly at 2,000 and the count of domestic non-craft brewers stands at 51.

It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life doesn't lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach. It is not a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled. But it is a calamity not to dream. It is not a disaster to be unable to capture your ideal, But it is a disaster to have no ideal to capture. It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars. But it is a disgrace not to have stars to reach for. Not failure, but low aim is a sin. By late summer, Goodview could have its own brewery. Brewmaster Chris Gardner, along with two partners, are planning on opening the Wenonah Brewing Co. across from Goodview’s only bar. Down the line, it could also include a tap room, a place to sample the home-brewed beer.
  • For Its Latest Beer, a Craft Brewer Chooses an Unlikely Pairing: Archaeology
The beer was full of bacteria, warm and slightly sour. By contemporary standards, it would have been a spoiled batch here at Great Lakes Brewing Company, a craft beer maker based in Ohio, where machinery churns out bottle after bottle of dark porters and pale ales. But lately, Great Lakes has been trying to imitate a bygone era. Enlisting the help of archaeologists at the University of Chicago, the company has been trying for more than year to replicate a 5,000-year-old Sumerian beer using only clay vessels and a wooden spoon.
