fretwalker commented on Mark's blog entry: My fave of the series, too, Mark. As good as it is from the bottle, on draught it's spectacular!

Absolutely, Happy birthday Mike, not a day over 30, right?

fretwalkerMark's "Happy Memorial Day" post brings it to mind... Who are the veterans among us? Personally, USAF 1970-74. Had an interesting time, even though I spent my whole hitch in SW Oklahoma!

fretwalker commented on Mark's blog entry: Ah, brings back memories! Long ago, when I drank nothing but Guinness, I spent 4 days at the Taste of Chicago (great party!)... no Guinness, but plenty of Honkers! Really opened my eyes and palate to craft beer!
fretwalker → drunken leprechauns club: I trust that drinking Guinness for 20+ years will get me in the door, here. Kinda lost my taste for it a few years ago, but still like a Harp, every now and then.
Love a good black & tan, too! (Despite the political connotations of the name!)

Mark: Happy Birthday Michael! Have a fantastic day!

ibbjamin: Cheers from the left coast. I miss the Bells and Great Lakes connections I used to have living in the midwest. I just traded for some hoplslam last week and a special Great Lakes aged stout was thrown in as well.

6 months in the cellar did wonders for that Ommegang Abbey! The first bottle, when new, seemed, umm, disorganized, you might say. Bottle #2, yesterday, knows what it wants to be when it grows up. 2 more in the cellar...
Thanks for your help! -Mike

oregonbeerlover: Yay...you were able to post! There was a glitch with the group where it was only allowing the leaders of the group to post...it was weird! We really are not that elitest! LOL

fretwalker → oregonbeerlover: Yep, I now have a reply box, and have poured an Ommegang Abbey Ale into it. Well, tasty words, anyway!
oregonbeerlover: heh heh heh...your funny! Damn right it got my hackles up...mixing lemonade in beer? I'll do a Lynchburg lemonade but not some beer concoction to suit the female palate... LOL

oregonbeerlover: That is Deschute's Brewery's concession wagon. It is cute isn't it? Wish they'd let me have it! I have no idea where my husband (ilovebeer) found his beer crab...he is always finding some off the wall pictures.

fretwalker → oregonbeerlover: Dot, I've been wondering about your avatar photo, must be the coolest on this site! (#2 is JP's, what cheezy sci-fi flick is that from?) Guessing it's a microbrewer's festival trailer, too cool! Or do you tow that thing behind the Hog, lest you run dry?

tfarides: I had Sierra Nevada's ESB last year. From what I recall it was hoppy with a very high level of drinkability.

oregonbeerlover: I, myself, really like Sam Adams choc bock and will pay the extra to have it. My other hobby is wine, and any beer costs less than that!

not much beer drinking of late. Hubby's been ill....need to catch up with the Pale Ale tasting
Paul
just had one of my rye pale ales, didn't turn out too badly. I won't be able to brew for a living, but at least it will keep me busy. Has anyone here tried growing hops and had any success?
This is the place to warn people of the truly bona fide, thoroughly vile alcoholic malt beverages out there. From Colt 45 to Camo Ice, from Joose to Tilt - if it's available in a tall can or 40 oz, it goes in here.
This group is designed to share notes about beer, as well as tasting notes and suggestions and get to know beer lovers from all over the globe. Here's the idea: We have themed tasting. In advance, if possible, we will pick a Style of Beer we're going to taste, then we trade tasting notes. The tasting period will be over two weeks so we get an outpouring of related tasting notes, which will spur deep discussions.... Check the Discussion area for what the tasting will be.
