    Hey,

It's like anything else, if you actually try to do a good job and pay attention and try to learn, then you'll make good beer. Some people just like to get drunk and throw ingredients together, and that's fine too, I guess.

Find a homebrew store near you, the AHA has a list of shops and clubs at http://beertown.org/ The online stores like MoreBeer, Northern Brewer, Austin Homebrew Supply are good too.

Also check out How to Brew and Brewing Classic Styles for books.

e-mail or msg me if you want to know more!  less

    oregonbeerlover: Hi Jimmy...

My husband and I would like to start home brewing. How long did it take for you to make something you would consider drinkable? I think it would be an interesting experience just going through the process of perfecting the brew!

  • Mark Congrats South Carolina! The State House just approved the so called "Pint Bill" that will allow breweries to sell 48 ounces of beer to a person every 24 hours. No more tiny samples if you're wanting a pint - as long as the Governor signs the bill.

This group is designed to share notes about beer, as well as tasting notes and suggestions and get to know beer lovers from all over the globe. Here's the idea: We have themed tasting. In advance, if possible, we will pick a Style of Beer we're going to taste, then we trade tasting notes. The tasting period will be over two weeks so we get an outpouring of related tasting notes, which will spur deep discussions.... Check the Discussion area for what the tasting will be.
