Flying Dog Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale

  • The Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale from Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland pours out a copper amber in color with good clarity and is topped with a two finger, off-white, foamy head that slowly reduces to a film. On the nose, toffee with fresh citrus. In the mouth, orange and grapefruit with an underlying toffee sweetness. Not overly bitter but not overly sweet. Well balanced. Light side of medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Pretty clean mouthfeel with just a little oil. Sheets of lacing on the glass. Slightly bitter towards the end on a moderate length finish.

I'd have to agree with the labeling - a classic pale ale. Good flavor, good balance, easy to drink and on style. Recommended.

    12 ounce bottle, 5.5% ABV, 35 IBU

    Beer 186 of 366 for 2012
